Education

Unless the inhabitants of Quintana Roo and the tourists that visit the region are better educated about the importance and fragility of the aquifer, the future of this important natural, cultural and economic resource will continue to hang in the balance.

More about it

CINDAQ develops and conducts programs to better educate residents, local guides, and visitors about the importance and fragility of the region’s karst aquifer. We also work with national and international media to focus attention on the plight of the aquifer.

Our efforts have been featured on programs produced by the BBC’s Natural History Unit (Planet Earth: Caves, 2005, Secrets of the Maya Underworld, 2005, Mexico Earth’s Festival of Life: Forests of the Maya, 2018), as well as National Geographic, CNN International, PBS, PBS/NOVA and NHK.
